Concrete cost estimator

Estimates a slab from volume and rates you set. Ready-mix pricing varies by nearly two to one across published sources — roughly $110 to $205 per cubic yard, with most of the US between $130 and $180. The default here is mid-range; replace it with your actual quote.

Typical installed cost per square foot by finish (industry estimates)
FinishCost per ft²
Plain slab$6–10.50
Walkway$6–12
Basic decorative$10–15
Stamped$10–20
High-end decorative$20–25+

The formula

(cubic yards × price per yard) + (square feet × labor per ft²) = total

Worked example

A 20 × 24 ft slab at 4 in is 6.5 yd³ with waste. At $165/yd³ that is $1,073 of material; at $4/ft² labor, $1,920 — about $2,993.

Assumptions

  • Material price is an estimate. Sources disagree; see our methodology on the cost hub.
  • Labor rate excludes excavation, base material, forms, reinforcement, and finishing upgrades.
  • Decorative work — stamping, staining, polishing — costs materially more per square foot.
  • Does not include permit fees, which vary by jurisdiction.
