What does the Georgia climate require?

Long hot humid summers put ACI 305 evaporation-rate limits in play from May into September. The Blue Ridge counties in the north see genuine freeze-thaw and should still use air-entrained mixes.

Under ACI 318, Georgia falls in exposure classes F0, C1, S0. Air entrainment is not required in most of the state. Air entrainment is required for classes F1, F2 and F3.

How deep is the frost line in Georgia?

Compiled reference tables put Georgia at about 6 inches. That figure is orientation only. The footing depth you actually have to build to is determined by your local building department — IRC R403.1.4 requires footings to extend below the locally determined frost line, and there is no national number.

Soil concerns

Piedmont red clay around Atlanta is moderately expansive and holds water against slabs, while the coastal plain south of the Fall Line is sandy with a shallow water table.

Seismic

Low seismicity, slightly elevated in the northwest near the Eastern Tennessee seismic zone. Coastal counties design for hurricane wind rather than seismic loads.
