Maturity method
Estimating in-place concrete strength from its temperature history, using sensors embedded in the pour and a calibration curve developed for that specific mix.
What does maturity method mean?
Because strength gain is driven by the combination of time and temperature, tracking temperature continuously allows a real-time strength estimate without breaking cylinders. The method requires an up-front calibration for each mix and is only valid for that mix. Its payoff is schedule: forms can be stripped, slabs post-tensioned, and traffic opened as soon as the data supports it rather than on a fixed calendar.
In practice
On fast-track jobs, wireless maturity sensors in the slab replace guessing about when it is safe to strip or load.
