Epoxy coating

A two-part resin coating applied over concrete to create a hard, chemical-resistant, seamless surface. The standard high-build garage and industrial floor system.

What does epoxy coating mean?

Epoxy builds thickness and adheres tenaciously to properly prepared concrete, but preparation is the whole job: the surface must be mechanically profiled, clean, dry, and free of laitance and sealers. Epoxy is sensitive to moisture vapor coming up through the slab, which lifts coatings off in sheets, so moisture testing precedes installation. Most epoxies amber and chalk under UV, so exterior use requires a UV-stable topcoat.

In practice

Peeling garage floor epoxy is almost always a preparation or a slab-moisture failure, not a product failure.
